Ugandan schoolmaster leads way in seeking energy efficiency & sustainable renewable fuels for schools
Born to a very poor family, orphaned at a young age, Henry Twinemasiko is providing hope and education to 1,650 schoolchildren in this remote corner of Uganda.
Henry’s next mission is to bring clean-burning biomass fuels and green technology to the schools and the community’s 15,000 inhabitants.

Top 10 things I learned at the PCIA forum in Lima
At the invitation of the government of Peru, the PCIA hosted its fifth biennial international forum outside the capital during the last week of February.
The Charcoal Project was especially thrilled to be able to speak with program managers, carbon finance experts, manufacturers, and policy-makers.
We learned many things after speaking and listening to so many people. What follows is a tiny sampling.
International Conference on Charcoal planned for 2012
The Charcoal Project (TCP) is pleased to announce its participation in organizing the first International Conference on Charcoal. The conference will take place in Africa in 2012. To lay the groundwork for the conference, TCP and its partner, CIGA (Centro de Investigaciones en Geografía Ambiental, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), are preparing a Symposium & Workshop to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, between June 12 – 16.
