NEWS: ‘Clean cookstoves’ draw support, but they may not improve indoor air quality
In March, researchers from India and California published a study showing that certain clean cookstove models occasionally release a larger volume of certain pollutants than the traditional stoves they’re intended to replace.
Three American researchers released a randomized, controlled study Monday that is even more damaging to the clean cookstove movement.

“Cheap, disposable, utilitarian appliances.” And, “not enough fuel savings to justify the expense of a clean cookstove.” These are just some of the findings in an new study out by Ideo.org on the cooking habits of Tanzanians.

LONDON, Jan 30 (Reuters) – The world is running out of time to make sure there is enough food, water and energy to meet the needs of a rapidly growing population and to avoid sending up to 3 billion people into poverty, a U.N. report warned on Monday.
As the world’s population looks set to grow to nearly 9 billion by 2040 from 7 billion now, and the number of middle-class consumers increases by 3 billion over the next 20 years, the demand for resources will rise exponentially.
